Smoke alarm!!
Written at Saturday, March 01, 2014
This morning, at 8am, I burnt my breakfast.

And even now, at 7pm, the smell of smoke still lingers.
In my hair, in my bag, in my clothes...
And my apartment does not smell nice :(

HAIZ.
Let me tell you the story~

We were supposed to go to IKEA in the morning (8am!!!), and we wanted to eat breakfast too.
But somehow my groggy brain forgot that :<
And I went to defrost/steam a custard egg bun.
I put it on a plate, added water around it, and wrapped it in clingfilm.

Settings: 900W, 6:30 min.

TURNS OUT THAT'S WAY TOO LONG AND WAY TOO HOT.

3 minutes in, I smelt something odd and I quickly went to check on the microwave.
The chaoda smell got stronger and I was like

Guess what filled the apartment when I opened the microwave door?
Not the nice fragrance of a hot steaming bao but
~SMOKE~

(Bet you saw that coming)

Sigh...
The worst part was that I couldn't immediately open the front door, cause the corridor smoke alarms could've been triggered and hahahaha that is the worst case scenario evar.

-water sprinklers could go off
-fire brigade could be called in
-i could be charged 2k for each fire engine used
-fire alarm
-evacuation
-8am on a Saturday morning

Yeah so I had to open my windows (which can only be opened so much), switch on my ceiling and standing fans, and hope for the best.
Plus Will and Huixian were already downstairs waiting for me to go to IKEA :(
I flapped at the smoke in vain with a tea towel...
Luckily they were willing to wait a while, so I waited for 2 minutes for the smoke to clear
...
...
And I opened the door.

NOTHING HAPPENED THANK GOD :')
I was like major phew and tried my best to shoo the smoke and smell out.
But after a minute or so I had to leave, so I could only leave the windows open and the ceiling fan on.
((What a terrible waste of electricity sigh))

Surprisingly though I found myself thanking God??
Like, thank You for giving me a nose that's in order
For letting me open the door without repercussions
For keeping everything safe (No explosions, thank God)
For timing it so well (I needed to do laundry)
& for making mornings more exciting :P

So after I got into William's car, they immediately turned around and said "Why do I smell smoke?"
And they laughed SO HARD after hearing the story hahaha :D
We had an amazing time at brunch/IKEA/Kmart though~ :)

And now I just borrowed a scented candle from Truds, so the smoke gets drawn in.
My main concern now is getting rid of the smell!!!

Oh right I never did reveal the final fate of the bao...
I'm quite sad now that I didn't snap a photo of it.
Anyway the plate was like liquidy charred, and the clingfilm had a hole in it.
And the bao...... Was brown and black all over HAHAHA.
It got chucked into the bin, plate and all :P

I didn't want to get plastic poisoning LOL!

Anyway, I'm quite happy about waking up at 8, since my whole day has been really productive.
It seems that time slows down in the morning.
My theory is because the hands of the clock are moving upwards, so gravity pulls against them bahahaha

Welp hope you enjoyed that rather long story :)
